Teriyaki Stir-fry Sauce

I find we do at least one stir fry a week in our house. They are quick, simple, you can use any veggies and meat (cooked or raw) you have on hand and serve over rice. My fam’s favourite way to eat this is smothered in a teriyaki style sauce, and making a homemade, gluten free version is actually much easier than you might think!

Simple Teriyaki Sauce

1/4 c gluten free soy sauce/ gf tamari or I use Bragg’s brand soy substitue

1/2 c chicken stock (or whatever stock, or even just water if you don’t have anything on hand)

2-3 tsp sesame oil

2 tsp rice vinegar

1 tbsp coconut or brown sugar (can add more if you want it a little sweeter)

1 tsp garlic powder (or fresh grated/ diced)

1/2 tsp ground ginger (fresh or powder)

2 tbsp cornstarch, or tapioca starch

whisk all ingredients except the cornstarch together in a bowl. Once combined, add the cornstarch and mix- if there’s a couple lumps that’s okay, but try to get most of them out. Then pour into your pan near the end of your stir fry- I like to do this once everything is 90% plus cooked. Move it around the pan so it coats everything and creates a light yet thick sauce!
